4 Summer Burger Recipes

Summer has unofficially started as Memorial Day is upon us. This year it is time to break out the grill and serve up some amazing burgers. With so many great ways to make this American treat you can have a new burger every weekend. Here are some great burger recipes to try this summer.

Crunchburger by Bobby Flay: The crunhburger is a great burger to bring you back to your childhood. Bobby Flay takes 1 ½ lbs ground chuck, Kosher salt, black pepper, 1 ½ tbsp canola oil, 8 slices of American cheese, 4 buns, 4 slices of tomato, 4 leaves of romaine lettuce, 4 onion slices, horseradish mayo of his own creation and 4 handfuls of potato chips and combines them to make four great burgers with chips on top. My wife and I eat our Subway sandwiches with the chips in the sandwich and now we are going to have to light the grill and try our burgers this way too.

Grilled Turkey Burger from the Mayo Clinic: The turkey burger is a healthy choice for a great summer burger but with about 200 less calories than a regular sirloin burger. In order to have a moist turkey burger with a ton of flavor the Mayo Clinic suggests combining 1 lb of turkey breast, ¼ cup of breadcrumbs, ¼ cup chopped onion, 2 tbsp of fresh chopped parsley, 1 ½ tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp tobacco sauce and dividing that to make four great burgers.

Morgan’s Veggie Burger by Guy Fieri: For the vegetarian at your party try mixing up these tasty veggie burgers by Food Network’s Guy Fieri. First you sauté 3 tbsp diced red onion, 2 tbsp diced black olives, 2 tbs diced red bell peppers, 1 tsp diced jalapeno, 1 ½ tbsp diced artichoke and 1 ½ tbsp diced garlic until they are translucent. The next step for your veggie burger is to add the veggies to 6 ounces rolled oats, ½ tsp Hungarian paprika, ½ tsp chili powder, 1 tsp oregano, 1 tbsp minced parsley, ½ tsp chili flakes, ½ tsp ground cumin, ½ tsp celery salt, ¼ tsp sage, 2 tbsp bread crumbs, 1 egg, 4 oz drained black beans, 4 oz drained chick peas and 4 oz white beans and mix well. Some folks have suggested that you may want to mash the beans so that the burgers are smoother and easier to make into a patty. Once everything comes together you will have a great healthy and tasty burger.
