Many have seen the same recipes and tried them. Trying to immitate that great tasting Cappuccino drink mix. The internet has literarly dozens of recipes on the same theme and you may have tried to make your own but here are some great variations and tips to make yours even better.

I have found the flavored creamers even at Walmart that are the less expensive brand, not the more expensive Coffee mate brand. Being somewhat on a budget I have to watch those pennies and do buy those less expensive ones, but I also do enjoy good tasting drinks. This is how I can get the best of both worlds.

I’ll first give some recipes with a slight variation that is low cost and great tasting, then on to a couple of tips and hints to make your favorite drinks even better.

Start with this simple recipe from the internet with just a slight variation.

1 cup instant coffee creamer
1 cup instant chocolate drink mix
2/3 cup instant coffee crystals
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon each cinnamon & nutmeg

Now try this, instead of the 1 cup of coffee creamer add 1/2 cupcreamer with 1/2 cup flavored creamer. The ones you can buy at your local grocery store. There are about a half dozen flavors in the creamer section that I have seen, things like Irish creme, amaretto, hazel nut, french vanilla and chocolate.Add about 2 to 3 heaping teaspoons to 8n oz hot water and enjoy.

Now here’s another that I find works well with the flavored creamers.

1 cup sugar
1 cup flavored creamer
2/3 cup dry milk
2/3 cup instant coffee crystals

You can use any of the flavored creamers and if they are too strong, you can use less flavoredand more regular creamer. 2 to 3 heaping teaspoons to hot water, sit and relax by the fire or TV.

For a unique variation of a Swiss Mocha try this.

1 cup instant coffee crystals
1 cup sugar
1cup dry milk
1 cup creamer
4 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa

Mix and use 2 to 3 teaspoons in 8 oz of hot water. You can vary the amount of creamer and flavored creamer to get the flavor you like. With this one I have found that what sounds like it would go with chocolate works here. Irish Cream is great with this one.

For some really unique hot drinks try taking cocoa mix and adding a few teaspoons of flavored creamers. If you have a favorite cocoa mix add some creamer to it and experiment with the taste. You can get some really uniquetaste combinationswith the flavored creamers.

Some other tips:

I noticed in the store bought cappuccino mixes that the consistancy is rather fine in the mix and when I make my own recipe you can tell the different ingredients after you mix them, so blend them. Take a clean and dry blender and thoroughly blend them on liquify. This will take a minute and you can watch as the different powders mix and blend. You will see when they are done.

If you make your own cocoa mix and add marshmallows, don’t blend them. It will not do your blender any good to try and blend miniature marshmallows. Blend before adding marshmallows. But the rest of your drink mixes can be blended for a smooth creamy texture.

Also I have found that the cheapercreamers tend to get moisture in them, clumping the creamer together in the little jar. Ir you have some that you are not using regularly, as in between mix preparations, keep them in a plastic ziplock bag in their jars. This way you will have all the creamers together when you go to make your next creation.

I use a canning food funnel when I pour the mixes from the blender into a quart canning jar. It’s neat and easy to pour with. I use a quart canning jarfor the mixes, this keeps them dry and handy.
