Easy Camping Food and Menu Ideas

When camping, it is important to remember to eat well. You still need to eat a good and hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner, even while roughing it. These easy camping food ideas will give you some tasty options for creating delicious and nutritious meals.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. To maintain your strength and endurance, especially when you are in rough conditions, always try to pack some great food in your cooler to eat. Be sure to remember the heavy duty foil and a frying pan. You can cook an excellent meal with these handy items very quickly and very easily. Here are some great camping menu ideas and easy camping recipes to prepare!

Camp Breakfast Skillet

6 eggs
4 potatoes, sliced
8 sausage links
1 chopped onion
1 green bell pepper, chopped and seeded
Black pepper

Fry sausage, potatoes, bell pepper and onions in skillet. Add salt and black pepper. Stir well. Break eggs over contents, mixing until eggs are done. This camping breakfast meal is delicious and very hearty!

Breakfast In Foil

Heavy duty aluminum foil, doubled, buttered and formed into a pan shape.
Beat six large eggs
1 small chopped onion
4 potatoes, thinly sliced
1 slice of American Cheese

Combine all ingredients and close foil tightly, sealing all in securely. Place on grill and turn foil often for one hour over low fire. This makes a great and quick camping meal.

Stick Biscuits

Squeeze butter
One stick
One can of biscuits
Cinnamon Sugar

Roll out one biscuit until one inch in the center and wrap around stick, pinching it closed tightly as you go. Hold over campfire until golden brown. Pour some squeeze butter over biscuit and sprinkle sugar or cinnamon sugar over it. Have a jar of jelly to dip your stick biscuit in and enjoy! You can also pour syrup over your stick biscuit.

Lunch is an important meal and very hungry campers like hot food! Yes, you could just have a ham sandwich but, if you pack a few extra goodies in the cooler, you can become the master chef of the woods!

Ham Pack Lunch

6 slices of thick ham
1 can of sweet potatoes, drained
1 can of pineapple slices, drained
1 package of frozen peas
Cinnamon sugar
6 pieces of heavy duty aluminum foil

Put one slice of ham on each piece of aluminum foil, followed by a slice of pineapple, a sweet potato and 3-4 tablespoons of peas. Add a bit of butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Seal foil up well. Cook about 20 minutes on a grill.

For a tasty and very easy camping supper, these recipes are sure to please! Camping is very popular around holidays. Memorial day and Labor day are two special holidays that many people take time off from work to head out camping. Who says camping food has to be boring?

Salmon Supper

Salmon steaks
One cut lemon, may use lemon pepper
Dijon mustard and mayo mixed or use dijonaise
Black pepper

Coat each side of salmon steaks with dijon mixture and squeeze lemon juice over followed by salt and black pepper. Double wrap salmon steaks in heavy duty foil and seal well. Cook over coals for 35 minutes. Turn often. Add ketchup when done. This camping recipe is one of my favorites. It will work with most trout, bass or other fish that you catch and clean.

Foil Burgers

2 lbs ground beef
4 large squares of heavy duty foil
1 large can of sliced potatoes
1 chopped and seeded green bell pepper
Onion salt
4 American cheese slices, optional
Worcestershire sauce
Black pepper

Separate meat into four equal portions and place each in foil, adding potatoes, bell pepper, onion salt, salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce and cheese. Seal foil well. Cook on hot coals for 15 minutes on each side. You can also leave out the potatoes and just serve this on hamburger buns.

Now, it is time for an easy dessert. This recipe is a camping favorite and I added to it my own special touch.

Graham crackers, break in half
Hershey bars or your favorite chocolate candy bar. You can also use miniature Reese’s cups.

Put a piece of your chocolate bar on the graham cracker, only cover about half of the cracker, roast a marshmallow over the campfire and quickly place it on the cracker. Put the other piece or half of the graham cracker over and press down. These are yummy! They are sweet and make a great camping dessert that is easy to prepare.

Camping out makes you hungry and these great camping menu ideas will please almost everyone. No need to do without a great meal just because you are roughing it.
